The Atlanta gift Show was well attended this past week despite concerns over the economic slowdown. Buyers were cautious, careful and discriminating on purchases as they should be but orders were being submitted and many attendees were having a good trip.
Vendors of all types have stepped up a notch. This has never been more apparent than at the Atlanta Gift Show especially in the temporaries. It was very apparent in the new Atlanta Gourmet Section. Almost all vendors had new displays and outstanding products. Gourmet is one of the retail segments which is holding up well against recession.Products which buyers are looking for have a few things in common… Since consumers are staying at home more, designs and colors which brighten and cheer are selling.
Also since our own economy is affected, products which are made in America are key issues. Consumers are reading the labels. In fact I saw a bumper sticker that speaks to this sentiment in Atlanta: “Out of a job yet? – Keep buying foreign”. We have noticed an increasing demand for our USA made recycled plastic shopping bags and the 100% recycled kraft paper version as well as the new recycled prints like Poppies which are made here as well.
Green products using recycled or sustainable materials are even more important, in fact, they are rapidly becoming the standard. Nashville Wraps Green Way Tm line of Sustainable, Recycled or Natural products is a perfect example of this. Green Way Tm packaging can help keep your business differentiated from the masses and your customers coming back.
