Give each guest a flower bulb tucked into a 100% recycled kraft box and tie the knot with paper raffia. Or go all-out and have your monogram printed on the box, or tie it up with pretty custom printed ribbon. What about birdseed to toss as the bride and groom leave, wrapped in tulle and tied with a pretty ribbon? Each guest could pick up a 100% cotton bag filled with sunflower seeds to toss or take home and plant. A packet of flower seed tucked into one of our Wild Grass Gift Cards would be nice – or how about place cards made from our 30% recycled envelopes with Forget-me-not seeds inside. Include a little note on the card that says “Remember us when you see these flowers”.
Gable boxes or Bio Pak takeout boxes are wonderful filled with treats for out of town guests. These boxes are FDA approved for direct food contact, and all designs are made from 100% recycled boxboard.
A truffle box filled with a chocolate bonbon at each person’s place at the reception would be thoughtful. These pretty little boxes are made in the USA of 100% recycled cardboard with 90% post-consumer waste.
And don’t forget the ribbons! Nashville Wraps offers many natural and recycled ribbons.
Here are a few other suggestions for beautiful, eco-friendly wedding favor packaging: Jute drawstring bags, biodegradable square bottom cello bags for your candy table and 100% recycled jewelry boxes.
Outside of packaging, I found a few ideas I couldn’t resist passing along. I love the idea of a butterfly release! There are several sites where you can purchase live butterflies for this purpose. One of our favorites is Swallowtail Farms. What about releasing love birds? They are actually homing pigeons that know exactly how to find their way home once the thrill of the release is over for you and your guests. Type in “love bird release” plus your state name in a Google search to find one near you.
