How could an unassuming item like a brown paper bag cause such a scramble? Really, it’s like lots of other things we get used to and take for granted as always being readily available. But the retail packaging market is tiny in comparison to many other segments of the paper industry. There are only a handful of folks actually making brown paper shopping bags, and fewer still in the USA.
So when you have a popular product, and only a few people make it, it’s a balancing act for most packaging distributors to keep it in supply. Nashville Wraps contracts far into the future to secure our supply, and we “share the love” by working with all of the US manufacturing facilities, rather than relying on just one.
With that said, what happens when you take out a major provider? That’s the scrambling I mentioned at the start, and that’s exactly what is happening now that Red River Packaging in Canada is closing its doors. Red River was a choice supplier to many US paper distributors. Even Nashville Wraps has used Red River on occasion; in fact we know them all on a first-name basis. But Canada, as much as we like it, is not where our heart (and business) is. Nashville Wraps’ supply of brown kraft shopping bags and related products remains unaffected.
Lowest Prices in Years
I grew up in the 60’s and 70’s. I’m sure you’ve heard this before, but my Father would often remind me of what his mother (my grandmother) would say: “If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing right”. Dad had the ultimate respect for his mom, and that mindset has stuck with us through the 2nd generation, and even my son gets it too. No doubt my grandson will get a double dose of it as well.
What this means to our customers is that this season, with our economy still very fragile, we decided to have a significant sale and make it on the most popular products that everyone needs. It’s all about that “worth doing right” thing. And oh yeah, those brown paper shopping bags? You guessed it! They are on Special too.
Have a great fall season, and tell folks about Nashville Wraps!
