Operation Shower Honors Ft. Campbell Military Moms
Nashville Wraps
Operation Shower came to Nashville, Tennessee to honor 80 beautiful military moms and moms-to-be from Ft. Campbell. The event was sponsored by Babies“R”Us and held at The Clubhouse at picturesque Gaylord Springs Golf Links.
Fort Campbell, located between Hopkinsville, KY and Clarksville, TN is home to the highly distinguished 101st Airborne Division and 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment. Honoring these soldiers and soldiers’ wives was just a small gesture of thanks for the great sacrifices these families make. Operation Shower and their team partnered with Nashville Wraps on this shower, and it was fun to see how the designers used our products and to get a chance to meet them in person.
Hostess with the Mostess
The military moms were partners of active duty Ft. Campbell soldiers and some were active duty themselves! Some brought their newborn babies to the shower while others were still expecting. When they first walked into the dining room with the tables all decorated, they were overwhelmed with how pretty everything looked thanks to the vision of designer Jenn Sbranti. She put together an adorable “About to Hatch” theme for the Ft. Campbell shower.
Meeting Jenn was a real treat. She is Founder & Editor-in-Chief of the Hostess with the Mostess blog. She is a pioneer in the blogging world. Back in 2003 she began to answer questions about the details of the events she planned into something new called a “blog”. Today, her site has over 400,000 Facebook fans and almost 100,000 Pinterest followers.
Jenn used white square nested boxes from Nashville Wraps to create unique centerpieces for each table. She covered the boxes with different scrapbook paper patterns. The boxes were then decorated with cut-outs and yarn. She mixed in painted bird houses and eggs for the cutest tables ever.
Yarn decor is all the rage on Pinterest. Jenn used a random yarn design around each chair cover. The moms were invited to personalize a onesie for their baby and a ceramic mug. You can see more decor ideas and photos of the shower here. Photo credits: THB Wedding Photography
About to Hatch
The dessert table was designed by Brittany Schwaigert of GreyGrey Designs. Her Memphis-based event design service specializes in one-of-a-kind custom children’s parties, wedding showers and baby showers. Brittany is a Nashville Wraps customer and used our pink nested boxes as a focal point for the table. She covered the boxes with scrapbook paper and added bird cut-outs and geometric shapes.
Anna Shea Chocolates, another Nashville Wraps customer, provided beautiful truffles for the table. Also from Memphis, Katherine Shorter, owner of Creating Awesomenessity, designed custom cookies (above) for the event. It was so great to meet Katherine in person. She is another Nashville Wraps customer who uses our packaging in her cookie business. She had so many kind things to say about us. It was amazing to watch how all these creative women work together to pull off something so special.
Lots & Lots of Surprises!
The best parts of the shower are the fabulous gifts and giveaways! Because of the generous support from all of the donors, Operation Shower was able to provide all 80 moms with everything from car seats and baby monitors to diapers and bottle sets. Also, $100 gift cards from Babies“R”Us were placed in Nashville Wraps 100% recycled Eco-Tone calypso pink jewelry boxes.
Samantha Fisher, Nashville’s WKRN News 2 anchor served as host of the event. She was just as personable and kind in person as she seems on TV. Samantha helped give out all the big surprises to the moms and played some fun games with them.
After lunch and an armload of baby supplies, the moms were helped to their cars, where volunteers loaded all their gifts. The moms were overwhelmed by the generosity and love showered upon them. Many said the event was much more than they ever expected!
More About Operation Shower
Operation Shower began in 2007 by LeAnn Morrissey as a way to give back to military families who were experiencing long deployments. This non-profit organization has helped over 3,000 military moms and families by providing them a shower-in-a-box. First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden have attended some of the showers in their support of military families.
With 61 showers held, including 40 unit-wide showers on military bases and other locations, there are 7 more planned this year. So many families in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard and National Guard have been touched by this marvelous organization.
Amy Belle Isle is the Chief Event Planner for Operation Shower. She loves Nashville Wraps products for these events and it was a privilege to finally meet her. It was truly inspiring to see her pull off this huge event with ease and grace, and so humbling to meet all the moms and their families.
