From the melt-in-your-mouth pecan pralines to the crunchy almond toffee topped with dark chocolate, I can personally attest to the fact that the candies made by our customer Walker Creek Confections in Watertown, Tenn., are delicious. If you stop in to visit them, you’ll get to try the candy, too – you can sample everything before you decide what you want to buy. It’s a brilliant sales strategy, really; the candy waits in inviting little dishes, and when you walk in, you can’t resist it. The only question is, how much candy will you take home with you?
The company started with a family recipe, made in small batches by Bruce McCook and his wife Cathy. As word got out about their toffee, they outgrew their home kitchen on Walker Creek. There are now two retail stores. The main Watertown location (with a brand-new, spotlessly-clean kitchen) is in a wonderful old building downtown that was once the local hardware store. The other shop is in East Nashville, not far from where Nashville Wraps got its start.
Get the grand tour of the Walker Creek Confections store and kitchen in their wonderful Tennessee Crossroads video (below), or better yet, stop in to see them. Just don’t say I didn’t warn you about how hard to resist their candy is!
