As one Yelp reviewer said it, Plaid Rabbit is “the perfect place to buy a baby gift.” An upscale boutique offering high-quality clothing, accessories, bedding and furniture for babies and children, this Nashville Wraps customer knows how to personalize a shopper’s experience, right down to the custom embroidery they offer on just about anything in their Nashville store.
The store has been around for over 30 years. Previously named Children’s Shop and Especially Baby, Plaid Rabbit became the dream career of its two new owners, Macy Weaver and Kendra La, who have best friends since childhood and share a love of beautiful clothing and personalized gifts. Their own children serve as their inspiration for seeking out the latest trends, but they stock plenty of classic, timeless clothes as well. There’s also a wide selection of furniture, rugs, lamps and even chandeliers to decorate nurseries and kids’ rooms.
Aiming to be a “one-stop shop,” gifts from Plaid Rabbit include complimentary gift packaging, starring gift wrap, shopping bags, colorful raffia, ribbon and personalized labels from Nashville Wraps. According to Kendra, customers love the gift wrap and say that when they see a beautifully wrapped gift from Plaid Rabbit, they know the gift inside is going to be wonderful and cherished.
By stocking everything families need to bring home a new addition, Plaid Rabbit is able to connect with customers at a very exciting time, then continue that relationship as the child grows and new items are needed. Macy and Kendra love interacting with guests and helping them find the right gift. Kendra’s advice for other small businesses: “Know your customers and treat them like family! Not only is it good for purchasing and buying stock for your store, it also is being truly aware that customers walking into your store have so many choices. They can go to another store or online, but they are choosing to come visit your store. Make sure they feel welcome and appreciated!” When I stopped by to take photos for this blog, I saw that personal rapport with customers firsthand, even on a busy Saturday.
Macy and Kendra use Facebook to keep Plaid Rabbit customers informed about new items in stock (or items back in stock, as is often the case with popular items), sales, special offers and great gift ideas. Another focus of their Facebook page is to let customers know about frequent special events in the store, such as visits from a local silhouette artist or even Santa Claus (with a professional photographer on hand). It’s also a great way to show photos of their products being enjoyed, by their own children and by customers. If you haven’t already checked out their company page, take a look and get some good ideas for using your own company page.
